The VCL was set up in 1964 with the express aim of encouraging young riders into the sport, with an emphasis on track racing at Herne Hill Velodrome , Burbage Road, London, the home of the club. Over the years the club has moved on from being a feeder club, and though track racing is very much its focus, with a number of National champions in its ranks, a wide range of ages and interests are now catered for.
Dulwich Paragon are a large club who welcome our over 12s on their Saturday rides. They ride from the velodrome so its a great way to get into club road riding.
Although we have nearly 600 members, you'll find us a friendly club, based in south London and dedicated to the serious and sporting cyclist. Road and circuit racing - and training for them - form a major part of our activities. But the club also competes on the track, in time-trials and in cyclo-cross events at all levels. Club members also participat in cyclo-sportives, at home and abroad, and we have some seriously dedicated long distance riders in our ranks.
